FAQ

Frequently asked questions about the Turkish Language Department and distance education.

Distance education is a system that brings together students and instructors on the internet without the necessity to be in the same physical environment and enables education and training. In this regard, receiving education and training is possible at any location with internet access.

Courses are conducted on the CATS website, which is the university's distance education and course support communication/sharing environment. Courses are weekly uploaded onto the system for a total of 14 weeks (in the form of a pdf or as voice recordings uploaded by the instructor). Students can keep track of these from CATS whenever they like, regardless of duration and time, and can download them as a pdf. Apart from this, the virtual lesson system is used for 2 hours per week. The student can listen to the lesson on the computer screen during class time.

One midterm exam and one final exam are scheduled within the semester. The midterm examination is conducted online via CATS. The exam instructions are announced to students one week before the exam. The final exam is a mutual exam among faculties and is held in the classroom environment during the final week specified in the academic calendar. The midterm impact rate is 20% and the final exam impact rate is 80%. Apart from these exams, an additional assignment may be assigned by the instructor.

Attendance is not compulsory in courses as they are carried out with the resources that the student can access at any time. Attendance is not compulsory in virtual classes, but students are recommended to attend these classes as they have the opportunity to ask questions to their instructors about the content of the course.

Students contact instructors through CATS in distance education. The instructor makes announcements about the course through this platform. For this reason, it is recommended that students keep track of the announcements. If you would like to see the instructor face-to-face, you are to get an appointment via CATS.
