A memorandum of understanding on social contribution through education was signed between the Department of Radio, Television, and Film at the Istanbul Culture University Faculty of Art and Design and the Küçükçekmece Municipality.

Under the terms of the protocol, faculty members from Istanbul Kültür University's Department of Radio, Television, and Cinema will provide training in the art of cinema to the district’s residents. Workshops will be held on screenwriting, directing, filming techniques, editing, and film project development; at the end of the term, the films produced by the participants will be screened for the public. Participants who successfully complete the training will be eligible to receive a certificate.

Representing our university at the signing ceremony were our Rector, Prof. Dr. Fadime Üney Yüksektepe, and the Chair of the Department of Radio, Television, and Cinema, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Perihan Taş Öz, and, on behalf of the Küçükçekmece Municipality, Deputy Mayor Mahmut Sedat Özkan; Director of Culture, Arts, and Social Affairs Deniz Gürbey; Director of the Küçükçekmece Municipality Film Office Onur Güler; Director of Strategic Development Nurtaç Tok Sezgin; Head of Event Planning Ali Cem Aydın; Head of Education Funda Şafak Sarıpolat; and Director of the Yaşar Kemal Art House Mehmet Özkan.

The project titled "Correlation of Substrate-Induced Transcriptomic Changes in Micelle-Based Biocomposites with Mechanical, Physical and Biochemical Properties," led by Assist. Prof. Sinan Meriç, at the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics (MOBİGEN) of the Faculty of Science and Letters at Istanbul Kültür University (IKU), has been awarded funding under the TÜBİTAK 1001 Scientific and Technological Research Projects Support Program.

Assoc. Prof. Perihan Taş Öz, Head of the Department of Radio, Television and Cinema at Istanbul Kültür University, discussed the Department of Radio, Television and Cinema, its educational vision for the next five years, the university application period, and current developments in the field of communication on TRT Radio News' live broadcast.

The program included important assessments regarding the application-oriented structure of the Department of Radio, Television and Cinema within the framework of Istanbul Kültür University's long-standing academic heritage and educational philosophy, the transformation brought about by artificial intelligence in the fields of cinema and media, and the future of the communication sector. Furthermore, the points prospective students should consider when choosing a department during the application period and the career opportunities offered by Radio, Television and Cinema education were discussed.

The Department of Radio, Television and Cinema at Istanbul Kültür University continues to train future communication professionals with its approach that closely follows the changing media ecosystem, integrates technology into its educational processes, and connects its students with sectoral experience.
