World-renowned pianist and composer Fazıl Say gave the opening concert of his new album tour “Songs, The Mad Pomegranate Tree” together with mezzo-soprano Seda Kırankaya on Tuesday, May 5, 2026 at 20:00 at the Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Center in the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy Campus.

The concert, which attracted distinguished guests and art lovers from various fields, featured unforgettable moments filled with music and emotion. During the concert, the premiere of “A Teacher’s Dreams,” specially composed by Fazıl Say in honor of the 100th birthday of Fahamettin Akıngüç, Founder of Kültür Educational Institutions and Honorary Chairperson of the Board of Trustees, was performed.

The Istanbul Kültür University Vocational Education Commission visited Sakarya University of Applied Sciences (SUBÜ), one of Türkiye’s leading institutions in workplace-based vocational education.

The visit, carried out on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, under the leadership of our Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Burcu Yavuz Tiftikçigil, was attended by our Vocational School Director Prof. Dr. Mehmet Özer and our Assistant Directors Lecturer Gözde Kuzu Uluçay and Lecturer Kerem Yücesan. During the visit, commission members met with SUBÜ Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Sinan Serdar Özkan and administrators from the vocational schools.

During the meeting, experiences regarding Sakarya University of Applied Sciences’ (SUBÜ) 3+1 applied education model were shared. Discussions focused on how the model is implemented, collaborations established with the sector, and how challenges encountered during the process are overcome. The visit also evaluated the contributions of the model to students, highlighting such topics as gaining work experience before graduation, becoming closely acquainted with the sector, and being better prepared for professional life.

The visit marked an important step in terms of potential collaborations between the two universities. The IKU Vocational Education Commission thanked Prof. Dr. Sinan Serdar Özkan and the administrators of the vocational schools for their hospitality and valuable contributions.

The "Triple Transformation Summit" was organized by Istanbul Kültür University (IKU) Sustainable Development Center (SÜRKAM) and the Institute of Circular Impact on Wednesday, April 29, from 10:00 to 16:30 in the Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall in the

Ataköy building on the Bakırköy Campus. The summit, which addressed green, digital, and social transformation from an integrated perspective, brought together stakeholders from academia, industry, and civil society around a shared vision. The summit, which featured opening speeches by our Rector Prof. Dr. Fadime Üney Yüksektepe and our Vice Rector & SÜRKAM Director Prof. Dr. Burcu Yavuz Tiftikçigil, made significant contributions to strengthening awareness in the field of sustainable development and to the in-depth examination of multi-dimensional transformation processes.

The exhibition “Sacred Beliefs, Trojan Textures, Weavings,” featuring works by artist Deniz Özen, opened to art enthusiasts with an opening ceremony held on Wednesday, May 6, 2026 at 15:00 at the IKUSAG Exhibition Hall located at the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy Campus of Istanbul Kültür University.

The exhibition, which opened with speeches by our Rector Prof. Dr. Fadime Üney Yüksektepe and artist Deniz Özen, attracted considerable interest. Taking visitors on an artistic journey into the fascinating past of Troy, the works stood out through the powerful language of weaving art, carrying traces of belief, nature, and ancient women’s labor.

Organized by the Dean of Students Office – Kültür Point, “IKU Career Days ’26” was held on Thursday, May 7, 2026, in the backyard of the Ataköy building at the Bakırköy Campus. Bringing together thirty-two companies from various sectors, the event offered students the opportunity to connect with the professional world and explore potential job and internship opportunities.

Throughout the event, participating companies hosted booths where students were able to submit their CVs and apply for positions directly. A digital CV pool was also created, allowing companies to review, evaluate, and provide feedback on student applications through a shared system.

In addition, Colins and 7DiMENSiONS conducted face-to-face mock interviews with previously selected students, while FLO and Akçansa organized online interview simulations.

Organized by the Istanbul Kültür University Fine Arts Application and Research Center (GSUAM), the theatrical dance performance “GONG” met with art lovers on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at the Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Center in the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy Campus. Staged on “World Dance Day” and attracting great interest, the

performance provided the audience with both visually and emotionally impressive moments. Brought to life by artist Filiz Bozkuş Al, “GONG” depicted life stages from birth through infancy and childhood, youth, the individual's struggle to find their own path, necessities, loss of will, and getting lost. Centering on the struggle of humanity with its own shadow and dark sides, the performance presented a story of growth through processes of crisis, awareness, and transformation. Distinguished by its stage design, use of lighting, and choreography that emphasizes the expressive power of the body, “GONG” not only involved the audience in a

performance but also in their inner journey. The powerful narrative language that art

establishes through the body and emotions left a profound impact on the audience, and the artist received a long round of applause at the end of the performance.

A cooperation protocol in the field of postgraduate education was signed between the Graduate Education Institute of Istanbul Kültür University and the Union of Chambers of Certified Public Accountants and Sworn-in Certified Public Accountants of Türkiye (TÜRMOB).

Within the scope of the signed protocol, TÜRMOB members, employees working at institutions affiliated with TÜRMOB, interns, as well as their spouses and children, will be able to benefit from special discounts for master’s and doctoral programs offered by the Istanbul Kültür University Graduate Education Institute. Under the protocol, a 35% discount will be applied to the total tuition fee for postgraduate programs, excluding the Clinical Psychology program.

In addition to supporting academic development, the cooperation protocol aims to strengthen professional specialization and contribute to the career development of the TÜRMOB community. On Thursday, April 30, 2026, the Department of Basic Education organized a technical trip to Çanakkale. Our students first visited ÇABAÇAM (ÇABA Multi-Purpose Early Childhood Education Center), a community-based project established within Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University that provides free preschool education to disadvantaged children and their families. During their visit to the center, our students had the opportunity to learn about the ÇABAÇAM model and its applications. The program continued with a visit to the Çanakkale Martyrs' Monument. After paying respects and expressing gratitude to our heroic martyrs, the trip, which supported our students' professional, cultural, and historical awareness, was completed.

Students from the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics (MOBIGEN) achieved remarkable success across multiple categories at the “2025–2026 Faculty of Arts and Sciences Achievement Awards.”

Following the opening speeches delivered by our Rector Fadime Üney Yüksektepe and the Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences Ömür Ceylan, senior MOBIGEN student Zeynep Tay also delivered a speech in the category of “Participation in internally/externaly funded projects or project applications.”

MOBIGEN students received a total of 66 Achievement Awards within the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, including 2 awards in the “Performance” category, 7 in “Scientific Publications,” 46 in “Projects,” and 11 in “Student Clubs.”

The first conference in the series planned by the Department of Political Science and International Relations was held on May 5, 2026, at the Ataköy building of Istanbul Kültür University’s Bakırköy campus. The conference series aims to encourage undergraduate and graduate students to conduct research in the discipline of Political Science and International Relations, enable them to apply the knowledge gained in courses to real-world issues, and improve their academic writing, public speaking, and presentation skills.

In cooperation with the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences (İİBF) of Istanbul Kültür University (IKU) and Kağıthane ITO Trade Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School, a university promotion and Department of Logistics information seminar was organized. Within the scope of the seminar, attended by our Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences Prof. Dr. Nebile Korucu Gümüşoğlu and our academicians Assist. Prof. Ayşegül Ketenci, Research Assistant Çağıl Kaya Çamalan, and Research Assistant Sinan Kulaksız, students were informed about associate and undergraduate programs. During the event, an enjoyable conversation was also held with students on university life, department preferences, and the process of becoming a university student.

The first game project of Faculty of Art and Design graduate Berker Murat Görgülü, who contributed to the “Original Concept” and “Storytelling” aspects of the project, has been released on Steam under the title Taksimetre. Developed by Debt Driven Games the game offers a narrative-driven experience centered around managing a taxi station. Players are tasked with assigning the right drivers to the right customers while making important decisions throughout the day and attempting to pay off a debt left behind by their uncle within 15 days.

With its decision-based mechanics and story-focused structure, Taksimetre combines management gameplay with an immersive narrative experience. Highlighting the professional achievements of graduate students in the game industry, this announcement also serves as an inspiring example of creative production and industry engagement. Organized by the Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design, a visit to the Construction Fair at the TÜYAP Fair and Congress Center was held on Thursday, April 30, between 10.00-17.00, with the aim of enabling students to observe current materials, technologies, and design approaches in the building and construction sector on site.

Organized in collaboration between Dr. Oktay Duran Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School and Istanbul Kültür University Vocational School, this month's topic in the "One Topic, One Guest Every Month" event series was "Graphic Design 101: What Awaits You at University?". Held on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at 11:00 in the conference hall of Dr. Oktay Duran Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School, the event provided students

interested in graphic design with the opportunity to gain comprehensive information about the university process. The speaker at the event was Lecturer Zülali Mine Naz from the Graphic Design Program of the Vocational School; The content of graphic design education, the processes awaiting students in university life, and important gains for the sector were discussed in valuable insights. In the event, moderated by Graphic Design Teacher Merve Çınar, students had the opportunity to ask questions directly.

Supported by the IKU Creative Club, one of the student clubs of the Department of Public Relations and Advertising, “ANTS Fusion 2026” took place on Tuesday, April 28, 2026 in the back garden of the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy Campus.

Featuring gaming companies, sponsors, influencers, and cosplayers, the event attracted more than 3,800 participants.

Organized in collaboration between the Program of Medical Documentation and Secretarial Studies and the Health Club, the event titled “Evaluation of the Georgian Healthcare System Within the Scope of Comparative Healthcare Systems” was held on Thursday, April 30, 2026 at 11:00 in the 1A01 lecture hall at the İncirli building of the Bakırköy Campus.

The speaker, Alisa Arslan, CEO of Europharma Georgia Ltd., introduced students to the structure, functioning, and current practices of the Georgian healthcare system. Drawing on her international healthcare sector experience, Arslan also provided a comprehensive evaluation of healthcare organization, financing, and accessibility in Georgia.

A conference was organized by the Program of Court and Office Services of the Istanbul Kültür University Vocational School with the support of the Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Justice on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at 14.00 in the C Block Seminar Hall at the Bahçelievler campus.

The conference was organized with the aim of contributing to our students’ career planning, raising awareness about the functioning of penal institutions, and improving their ability to analyze institutional structures. Alpaslan Demir, Deputy Director of Metris No. 1 Type T Closed Penitentiary, and Sudiye Aksoy, Psychologist at Bakırköy Women’s Closed Penitentiary, attended the conference as speakers.

Organized by the Department of Digital Game Design, the fifth meeting of the Dev-Meets event series was held on Wednesday, May 6 at 12:00 in Seminar Hall II. The event featured Cultic Games founder and creative director Can Oral alongside production executive Görkem Emrullah as guest speakers. During the session, the team shared the studio’s journey from its foundation to its current projects, discussing their development processes and experiences within the game industry. Through projects such as "Stygian: Reign of the Old Ones" and "Cats and the Other Lives", participants gained insight into creative design approaches, team management, and the realities of independent game development.

The event also highlighted the studio’s upcoming tabletop RPG project "No More Humans", which successfully reached its stretch goal within only two days. Students had the opportunity to learn more about the project’s development process, community support, and the role of crowdfunding in independent productions. Following the talk, an interactive Q&A session was held in the Digital Game Design Game Room on the first floor, where students asked questions about game development workflows, creative decision-making, publishing, team structures, and career planning, creating a productive environment for direct interaction with industry professionals.

As part of the “IKU Career Days” organized by the Dean of Students Office – Kültür Point on May 7, 2026, the “Career in Law” panel was held to support students’ professional development and connect them with industry professionals.

The event began at 15:00 in the multi-purpose hall on the 4th floor of the Ataköy building at the Bakırköy Campus. Legal Counsel Attorney İmren Öner Topaloğlu and Attorney Özgün Önal participated as speakers and shared their professional experiences with students.

The panel focused on current developments in the legal field, the dynamics between legal practice and corporate legal consultancy, and post-graduation career planning processes. Held in an interactive format, the session gave students the opportunity to ask questions directly to the speakers and expand their professional networks.

Organized under the motto #geleceginedokun (TouchYourFuture), the session offered aspiring legal professionals a productive platform to guide them on their career journeys.

In cooperation with the Department of Common Courses , the Department of English Language and Literature, and the Liber Culture and Arts Association, the “Question Asking Workshop” was organized on Tuesday, May 5. Conducted under the guidance of association member Sibel Türker, the workshop turned into a rich and interactive learning environment with the participation of students from various departments. Throughout the workshop, participants both acquired theoretical knowledge on accurate and effective questioning techniques and had the opportunity to improve these skills through practical exercises.

During the event, topics such as critical thinking, active listening, and creative inquiry were discussed, and students exchanged ideas on methods that can be used in many areas ranging from daily life to academic studies. Participants experienced that asking questions is not only an important tool for accessing information, but also for deepening thought and strengthening communication.

The Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics (MOBİGEN) at Istanbul Kültür University hosted Assoc. Prof. Melih Ağraz for an online seminar on April 30, 2026.

In the presentation titled “Machine Learning for Genomics: From Fundamentals to Explainable Deep Models,” Assoc. Prof. Ağraz shared insights into machine learning and deep learning approaches used in genomic data analysis.

The seminar covered classical machine learning techniques used in the analysis of DNA sequencing, gene expression, and variant data, as well as the applications of CNN-, RNN-, and transformer-based models in genomic research. In addition, the role of explainable artificial intelligence (XAI) approaches in generating biologically meaningful results and their potential contributions to personalized medicine were discussed.

Organized by the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, technical visits to Deka Elektronik Inc. were held on May 14 and May 21, 2026. As part of the visits, practical applications conducted within the “Industrial Instrumentation and Design” course during the 2025–2026 Spring Semester were carried out at Deka Elektronik Inc.

A trip to the Atatürk Airport Approach Tower was organized by the Program of Flight Operations Management on Thursday, April 30. Accompanied by DHMI Atatürk Airport Deputy General Manager Kemal Alataş, our students had the opportunity to see firsthand how operations are managed.

​A seminar titled "Coping with Uncertainty Created by War" was organized by the Dean of Students Office - Kültür Point on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, to focus on the psychological effects of global issues on individuals and to raise awareness.

​The event took place at 16.00 in the 2nd-floor multi-purpose hall of the Ataköy building at the Bakırköy campus and was conducted in English and Persian. Featuring Trauma and Mental Health Specialist Yeşim Yılan and Specialist Psychologist Damla Özyaşamış as speakers, the seminar provided an in-depth look at methods for coping with the sense of uncertainty caused by social events like war, as well as strategies for protecting mental health.

The Department of Special Education of the Faculty of Education organized a technical visit to Yeşilköy Special Education Vocational School.

During the visit, students gained insights into vocational training, daily life skills, social adaptation, and employment preparation processes.

As part of the "IKU Career Days" held on May 7, 2026, by the Dean of Students Office - Kültür Point, various workshops were also held to support students' personal development and increase their social interaction. Within the scope of the event program, a "Linden Wood Printing Workshop" was held in the back garden of the Ataköy building on the Bakırköy Campus between 12:00–13:00 and 14:00–15:00, attracting significant student interest. In the workshop, students had the opportunity to experience traditional printing techniques and create their own designs. Also within the scope of Career Days, a "Natural Stone Bracelet Workshop" was organized in collaboration with Elifsu Jewelry. In this workshop, which had limited capacity, students designed their own bracelets using natural stones, experiencing the production process and coming together in a fun and creative event environment.

Our Program of E-Commerce and Marketing students visited B2Press on Monday, May 4, 2026, accompanied by Lecturer Dr. İrem Oran. During the visit, our students were informed about digital communication and current communication practices.

The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering held a seminar titled "Photovoltaic Systems: Working Principle, Installation and Sectoral Perspective" on May 5, 2026, at the Ataköy building on the Bakırköy Campus.

The Dean Of Students Office - Kültür Point will organize a "Business English" training on Monday, May 11, via the CATS platform, to support the career planning processes of our students and graduates.

In collaboration with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, IKU Youth Office, and the Street Lamp Association, a food collection stand will be set up in the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy Campus between May 11-13 (10:00-17:00) to help homeless and needy individuals.

The Banking and Insurance Program will organize a talk titled "Participatory Insurance in Türkiye: Opportunities and Areas for Development" to introduce students to the concept and basic principles of participatory insurance. The event, featuring Neslihan Neciboğlu, General Manager of NEOVA Participation Insurance and Board Member of the Turkish Insurance Association, as a speaker, will be held on Monday, May 11, at 11:00 in the 1A01 amphitheater in the İncirli building at the Bakırköy Campus.

The Women's Solidarity Club will be holding an event titled "Talking Together, Creating Together: Women's Solidarity Workshop & Canvas Bag Painting Workshop" on Monday, May 11, at 13:00 in INNside at the Ataköy building on the Bakırköy Campus. The aim is to create a safe space where students can share their experiences, problems, and needs on campus, and to jointly evaluate and develop solutions to problems encountered during the semester.

The Psychology Club will be organizing a panel titled "The Brain in the Age of Artificial Intelligence: Plasticity, Attention, and Cognitive Transformation" to examine the neurological effects of artificial intelligence and intense digitalization on the human brain. The panel, which will feature Assist. Prof. Selcen Yetkin Özden and Assist. Prof. Sena Kıcıklar as speakers, will be held on Monday, May 11, at 14.00 in the Erdal İnönü Seminar Hall in the Ataköy building on the Bakırköy Campus.

In collaboration with the Department of New Media and Communication and the New Media and Communication Club, an event titled "Seeing the Human, Designing the Solution: The Transformative Power of Design Thinking" will be organized to introduce participants to the Design Thinking approach as a human-centered and innovative thinking model. The event,

The Department of International Trade and Finance will be organizing a "Career Summit" event to inform our students about internship and employment opportunities. The event, featuring Hazal Meral, Human Resources Manager of RSM Türkiye, will take place on Tuesday, May 12, from 09:30 to 17:00 in the Conference Hall of the Küçükçekmece Campus.

Organized by the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, the “Networking & MAYFEST” event will be held on Tuesday, May 12, between 09.45-17.00 at the Conference Hall of the Küçükçekmece campus. The program, which will include speeches by Erdal Uzunoğlu (Networker) and Özgür Olgun (Founder & Innovator Studios), company presentations, and workshops, will conclude with a concert by Orchestra IKU & DJ Academy.

In cooperation with the Intellectual Property Rights Application and Research Center (FİHAMER) and the Faculty of Law, an event titled “Protection of Well-Known Trademarks Against Dilution” will be organized with the participation of Assoc. In cooperation with UZEMER and the  Dean of Students Office, a “Python Programming Training” will be organized for students preparing for TEKNOFEST competitions and those interested in the subject. The training, which will be delivered by Computer Engineer Boran Toktay, will take place on Tuesday, May 12, between 14.00-18.00 in the multi-purpose hall on the 4th floor of the Ataköy building at the Bakırköy campus.

In cooperation with the Alumni Relations Unit, the International Relations Unit, and the Corporate Communications Department, the “International Seniors Meeting Day” event will be organized on Tuesday, May 12, at 15.00 at INNSide in the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy campus, with the aim of strengthening the bonds between our international students and our university.

Orchestra IKU will give a concert at the Küçükçekmece campus on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, between 15.00-17.30.

The Department of Economics will organize a congress titled “New Trends in Economics: Gender” to create a qualified discussion platform on current trends transforming the economic structure on a global and national scale. The congress, which will bring together academics and researchers from different disciplines, will be held in a hybrid format at the Küçükçekmece Campus on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, between 09:30 and 15:45.

Organized by the Program of Tourism and Hotel Management in order to inform students, the event titled “Marketing in Tourism” will be held with the participation of Burçin Tuğral, Marketing Manager of Sheraton Ataköy, as the speaker. In cooperation with the Performing Arts Club and the Department of Public Relations and Advertising, a talk titled “Myth and Sign” will be organized in order to familiarize students with the use of mythology and semiotics in advertisements. Elif Kemal, an English Teacher from Eyüp Municipality, will participate in the event as the speaker. Organized by the International Relations Unit, the “International Day” event will bring together students from different cultures at our university, who will introduce their countries and present traditional dishes they have prepared. The Program of Child Development will be organizing a seminar to provide students with privacy education and raise awareness against abuse in the preschool period. The event, featuring Educator, Author & School Principal Eser Ünalan Şenler and Educator, Coach & School Principal Ece Üstgel, will take place on Wednesday, May 13, at 12:00 in INNside at the Ataköy building on the Bakırköy Campus.

The Literature Club will organize a "Reading and Writing Workshop-I" on Wednesday, May 13, at 14.00 in the Erdal İnönü Seminar Hall in the Ataköy building on the Bakırköy Campus, where members will read and interpret a literary work they have written.

The Faculty of Law will organize a conference titled "Scientific Meeting Series 4: Rights of Foreigners" to commemorate our esteemed professor, Prof. Dr. Rona Aybay, who dedicated her life to academia and contributed countless works to Turkish law, on the fourth anniversary of her passing. The event will be held on Thursday, May 14, at 9:30 in the multipurpose hall on the 4th floor of the Ataköy building on the Bakırköy Campus.

As part of the “Nursing Week” celebration activities organized by the Department of Nursing, the event titled “Empowered Nursing in the Light of Innovation” will be held on Thursday, May 14, between 10.00-13.30 at the Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall in the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy campus. Assoc. Prof. Yeliz Doğan Merih from the University of Health Sciences will attend the event as the speaker, where a lamp lighting ceremony will also take place.

Organized by the Department of Special Education in order to enable students to gain information about the functioning of special education institutions, a technical visit to Yeşilköy Special Education Vocational School will be held on Thursday, May 14, at 11.00.

The Department of Communication and Design will organize the workshop titled “Constructing the Character” to explore ways of creating multidimensional and lifelike characters. Organized in collaboration between UZEMER and the Office of the Dean of Students, the “LLM and NLP Training” will be offered to students preparing for TEKNOFEST competitions and those interested in the field. The training, delivered by Computer Engineer Boran Toktay, will take place online via the CATS platform on Thursday, May 14 between 14:00–18:00.

The fifth guest of the “Clinical Psychology Development Seminars,” organized by the Department of Psychology, will be Psychiatrist Dr. Mustafa Karaytuğ with a talk titled “Supportive Psychotherapy.” The event will be held online via Google Meet on Thursday, May 14, 2026 at 21:00.

As part of the “Nutrition Principles and Applications-II” course offered by the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics, the event titled “My First Project on the Path to Becoming a Dietitian” will be held on Friday, May 15 at 10:00 at the Bahçelievler Campus. During the event, students will wear their white coats and present the outcomes of projects that will continue throughout the spring semester.
