The social responsibility project titled “A Friend on the Street”, carried out by Ayşe Ecem Yavuz, one of our students from the Program of Medical Documentation and Secretariat, under the supervision of the Head of the Program Lecturer Emin Aksan, aims to increase sensitivity towards stray animals and raise social awareness.

As part of the project, regular food support was provided to street animals living in the Bakırköy area over the course of two months. Going beyond the temporary solutions, the project also created a lasting impact by designing sustainable food containers and placing them in areas of need. With the support of volunteer participants, food distribution activities were carried out, encouraging community engagement.

Awareness brochures and pet food packages were distributed to help raise public consciousness, making the project especially valuable in promoting compassion for animals and raising awareness among young individuals.

This initiative not only helped improve the living conditions of stray animals but also contributed to fostering a sense of social responsibility among individuals, demonstrating that even a small act can make a big difference.

IKU Technology Transfer Office (TTO) also took part in the 2025 TTO Workshop themed “Technology Transfer Professionals Experience Sharing within the Scope of the 1613 Call,” organized by the TÜBİTAK Technology Transfer Mechanisms Support Group.

At the workshop, where the importance of the mission carried out by Technology Transfer Offices (TTOs) in transferring research outcomes from universities to society and industry by creating value was emphasized, our Technology Transfer Office Director, Cüneyt Genç, represented our university.

The focus of this year’s workshop was the experiences of Technology Transfer professionals on 1613 projects. Important evaluations were made on a wide range of issues, ranging from environmentally sensitive knowledge and technology transfer to university-industry collaboration, from commercialization models to European programs. The importance of thinking and producing together in order to solve the problems encountered in technology transfer processes and to build a sustainable and effective ecosystem was underlined once again.
