Course Content

The Turkish Language Department provides Turkish language courses in the first two semesters for all undergraduate and associate degree students at our university through distance education. In addition, basic Turkish courses for 2 credits, TR 1001 YAB and TR 2001 YAB, are offered to foreign students. The weekly course content for Turkish 1 and Turkish 2 is as follows:

FINAL EXAM

 

In our department, compulsory Turkish courses are given in two semesters for foreign students. At the beginning of the semester, the level determination exam is held and the students are divided into classes according to their level. Turkish I (TR 1001 YAB) and Turkish II (TR 2001 YAB) courses take place in the classroom environment, not through distance education. There is one midterm and one final during the semester. The visa effect rate is 40% and the final exam is 60%. 

Turkish (TR 1001 YAB) /Turkish II (TR 2001 YAB)

  • This courses are based on these grammar structures: Turkish alphabet, “bu / şu / o / ne? / kim?” and “burası / şurası / orası” structures, multitude suffix, question suffix, numbers, adjectives, seasons, months, days, noun clause, case suffixes, present time, possessive suffixes, noun phrases, clocks, “mAdAn önce, DIktAn sonra, DAn önce/sonra” structures, imperative, request and specific past tense, future tense, comparison (like, up/gibi), indefinite past tense, broad tense, proficiency verb, adverb verbs. 
  • The basic features of Turkish in terms of sound and structure are explained. The basic rules of daily communication are taught along with their patterns. Shopping in everyday language, meeting new friends, inviting to dinner, telephone conversation etc. developing text (dialogues); brief and simple information about personal care and health. Congratulations, congratulations and simple speech exercises. Reading the simple texts in newspapers and magazines, gaining the skills of understanding, finding the main ideas of the texts are carried out.

  • Turkish phonetics and simple rules about phonetics,
  • Punctuation,
  • General information about composition,
  • To be able to explain daily needs,

  • Conduct simple conversations with congratulations, congratulations and thanks,
  • To read and understand simple texts in internet, newspapers and magazines,
  • Finding the main ideas of texts.
